ABOUT US
What makes the art scene in New York so special?
And why shouldn’t you be in sunny Barcelona instead?
We’ve been in New York for a long time: over 50 years, to be exact. We think it’s a special place, and one of the most important aspects is the people.
Our program puts your creativity to work with a fully immersive experience in New York City, through internships, individual advising, seminars, program events, and a capstone project.
New York City is our campus. We help you navigate it. You will be surrounded by arts, culture, and great food.
Faculty work one-on-one with students for customized placements in film & media, literature & publishing, theatre & dance, and visual art & art history. Students receive faculty guidance and mentoring throughout their semester. NYAP faculty are accomplished artists and experienced teachers, providing students with a mentor, a resource, and a role model all in one.

“Ease is the enemy of the artist. When things get too easy, you’re in trouble.”
- Chuck Close, NYAP Sponsor Alumnus

My semester with the New York Arts Program was nothing short of transformative. It reshaped my creative vision, solidified my professional aspirations, and deepened my confidence as an artist. Before NYAP, I knew I wanted to create, but I wasn’t sure how to bridge my interests in music, interactive art, and performance into a cohesive practice. The program gave me the space, resources, and connections to do just that.
My internship at Roulette Intermedium and other projects provided me with hands-on experience with artists and their performances. Most days on stage and in the office involved file management, live audio engineering, video editing, and production work. This experience directly influenced how I approach my own music and multimedia projects. Beyond technical skills, I learned how to advocate for myself, articulate my creative ideas, and collaborate in professional settings.
Living and working in NYC showed me that a career in the arts is not just possible but sustainable with the right balance of creativity, discipline, and connection. For anyone considering the program: Go. It’s a chance to take your work seriously in an environment that challenges you to grow, experiment, and gain real-world experience. More than just what you create, it’s about shaping who you want to become.

NYAP has been one of the most influential experiences in my life. I feel as if I have learned more in the 10 weeks that I was there than my entire college career. The program was able to provide me with the facilities and the connections in the voice acting world and I felt as if I could truly get comfortable with the career I want to pursue before I get thrown out into the world on my own. If you're reading this, I cannot emphasize this enough: APPLY!

Before participating in this program, I always questioned my abilities as an artist. It was more of a personal issue than a professional or creative one. I was new to acting and I felt like an imposter. Spending this essential time in the Big Apple changed me as a person and artist. Thanks to this program, I now understand how important it is to collaborate with artists no matter their field. When you are doing art, you never stop learning; collaboration helps learn from other artists. The program also taught me that versatility is crucial whether you are acting, writing, or directing. Thanks to my experience with The Acting Studio NYC, I was able to meet and work with actors who were on all levels. After completing the term with the program, I returned to my campus with extreme confidence and it has kept me going. The city of New York changed my life for the better by getting me used to a fast-paced environment filled with amazing talent. I am excited to continue my acting and filmmaking journey.
